Mt. Fuji Conquered..and tears shed
Saturday, August 6th, 2005Yep..you heard that right..Moi! Watashi! AKo! I Climb Mt. Fuji and finished it until the peak! I am not just your girly type..I am tough y’know?haha..But honestly, it is not one easy task, mind you - it is definitely MUZUKASHII!!~difficult. We started hiking at 8:30 in the evening, groping in the dark. We were expecting that people would be bringing flashlights, that’s why some of us didn’t bother to bring some what happened was that, these people we were expecting to bring flashlights were also expecting the OTHERS to bring those lights! Oh well, so it was quite hard, not to mention that during the past days I was exhausted due to the night-outs we had and sleep-overs. Anyway, on with the story, climbing Mt. Fuji starts at the 5th station - halfway, so we climbed around 1800 meters. There were some parts wherein the slope was almost vertical that crawling is the only way up! Hahaha…so in an instant I have to learn how to rock climb
, gloves are really needed by the way. motte konakucha ikenai.hontou ni.. We took several rests, because Lauren and I were really having a hard time. I cannot breathe that well for we are in such a high-altitude place. Eun-Joo and Minkyung stopped the 7th Station and those who can still carry on endured the upcoming terrains we had to face. We watched the sunrise at the 8th station and it was freezing cold. I had 4 layers of clothing - and mind you what I wore where really authentic winter clothes and I was still cold. In addition, I had 4 heat packs pasted on my jacket..still I was SAMUKATTA!~cold. Lauren had a slight fever so by the time we reached the 8th Station, Steffen and her stopped. SO how many were remaining? Four people, by the way we were eight when we started hiking. On the middle of the 9th station, Emi quit and went back too - that leaves me, Bill and Aoi, helping together we managed until we reached the top! I was so proud because honestly, I really didn’t think I would climb the whole thing, right from the start I was really having troubles. I was holding Bill’s hand when we were nearing the peak for I was so tired already. We slept around 30 minuted on the top and went back trekking down. The way down was more difficult!!! Oh my gosh - that was the worst! Really! It was so rocky and the sand was loose, Bill and Aoi really helped me. It rained 5 minuted before we reached our last stop, the perfect ending, my shoes which were originally colored black turned beige!hahaha.. Fuji was so rocky and you can’t see that much foliage there, but the view up there was really nice. That was the last trip I had with Bill, who left today to go home. It feels so sad because besides that he was my neighbor whose room I always visits whenever it is tsumaranai~boring in my room, he was really a dear friend to me. I really would miss him, Lauren and I cried when he left, we accompanied him to the airport. I really don’t know if ever I can see him again..I do hope so though. Oh well, our apartment has become very quiet from now on..I really would miss him
- we both love pictures! haha..this was the last picture (although quite badly taken..I took it that’s why..hehe) taken inside Narita Airport. Really sad..
